Adele was born on May 5th, 1988. She knew that she wanted to be a singer as soon as she got the microphone in her hand, at age 14. Adele came from a unmusical family. She would perform in front of her family. She was a fan of very diverse artists such as Jill Scott, Billy Bragg, Peggy Lee, Jeff Buckly, and The Cure.  She believes that songs are just like poetry and those writers are "proper poets". Adele says that she has no problem explaining what her albums are about.
